BIO

Maya Argüello Gómez is a legal scholar in Law and Criminology. She earned a Master of Public and International Law as well as a Master of Laws at the University of Melbourne, and is a PhD Candidate at Swinburne Law School.

 

Her current research explores human rights and sentencing, specifically dealing with terrorism, criminal law and human rights. Maya's research interests also cover digital criminology and privacy/surveillance laws.

 

Maya is also a practicing legal professional with an interdisciplinary background. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (UK), a research member of AVERT (Addressing Violent Extremism and Radicalisation to Terrorism Research Network), and the International Law Association (ILA).
