Mehrnoush is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of Architectural and Industrial Design in the School of Design and Architecture at Swinburne University of Technology, and a Swinburne CI at the ARC Centre for Next-Gen Architectural Manufacturing. 

Her scholarly work is distinguished by the development of a multiscalar, performance-based design framework that reconceptualises microclimate design as part of an interdependent system extending from the macro-scale of urban fabric and landscape, through building form and material innovation (meso-scale), to the sensory and cognitive experience of the human body and mind (micro-scale). By reframing design through systemic multiscalar and cross-sensory analysis, her research offers new insights and introduces novel design approaches to the relationship between environment, perception, and spatial performance.

Drawing on computational design, BIM, digital fabrication, neuroscience, and environmental simulation, Mehrnoush employs advanced tools, including virtual and augmented reality, EEG, and biosensing technologies, to visualise and evaluate complex microclimatic impacts on human and environment. 

Her research methodology has been published in journals and book chapters, and her creative work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including Embracing Innovation at CRAFT ACT (2015 and 2016, Canberra), Make the Invisible Visible in the Dynamics of Air exhibition at RMIT Gallery (2018, Melbourne), Fireless Skin: Mycelium Biocomposites in Life and Death for Melbourne Design Week (2020), TIME SPACE EXISTENCE at the Venice Biennale (2021), and MycoClad in IM-PERMANENT  for Melbourne Design Week  2023
