BIO

Dr. Ranscombe has over 10 years’ experience as an educator and researcher in Product Design and Engineering. His approach is cross disciplinary, uniting user centred design with engineering design to effectively navigate the product development process. His specific expertise in product design and development lies in new prototyping and visualization technologies and how they can best support practitioners. This has enabled him to secure external funding $786,264 to research and develop products and has successfully translated research into a digital healthcare spin-off (H3d). His Expertise in bridging user needs identification with technical product outcomes led to his appointment to lead Swinburne’s Human Centred Product Development (HCPD) program, housed within the research Centre for Design Innovation (CDI). In this role he is responsible for numerous projects spanning user-centred and co-design methods as well as new and emerging design and prototyping technologies that support research and creation of creation new products.
