BIO

Dr Nguyen Bui is a Lecturer in Educational Development in the Education Innovation Exchange team at Swinburne University of Technology. She is also a Fellow of Advance HE and a Visiting Lecturer at Tan Tao University in Vietnam.

Nguyen holds a PhD from the Australian National University and two Master’s degrees from Curtin University in Australia and Eastern Michigan University in the United States. Her doctoral research explored how a Small Connectivist Open Online Course (SCOOC) facilitated networked professional learning among teachers across cultural and geographical boundaries. Drawing on a mixed-methods case study of tertiary English language teachers in thirteen countries, the study identified design considerations for effective online teacher professional development and intercultural learning.

In 2017, she received a formal commendation from the Australian Minister for Education and Training at Parliament House and was interviewed by U.S. News & World Report. Her work has also been recognised with prestigious awards and scholarships, including the SEAMEO-Australia Education Links Award 2016/2017, the TESOL Professional Development Scholarship, the Fulbright Scholarship, the Australian Government Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship, and the EMU Leader Award.
