Dr Michael Butson is a Research Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology and a member of the Sport Innovation Research Group. He also serves as an academic staff member at La Trobe University. Michael holds a Master of Sport Business and Integrity from Victoria University and a PhD from Monash University. His doctoral research examined older adults’ participation in physical activity within aquatic and leisure facilities. His main research areas include human resource management in the leisure sector, ageism in the media and its associated impacts, and the manifestation of aggression within media and sporting contexts.
