BIO
Chee Peng (CP) Lim completed his Ph.D. degree at the University of Sheffield, UK in 1997. As Professor of Computational Intelligence at Swinburne, his research is focused on the design and development of Computational Intelligence (CI)-based systems for data analytics and decision support. The applications include medical prognosis and diagnosis, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance of industrial systems, as well as scheduling and optimisation of manufacturing processes. CP has published more than 600 technical articles in international journals, conference proceedings, and books. He has also received over 10 best paper and presentation awards at international conferences, and delivered more than 30 keynote speeches over the years.
CP has been the recipient of numerous prestigious fellowships. These include the Australia-India Senior Visiting Fellowship (by the Australian Academy of Science), Australia-Japan Emerging Research Leaders Exchange Program (by the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering), Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Research Fellowship at Kyushu University, Commonwealth Fellowship at the University of Cambridge, Fulbright Fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley, and Visiting Scientists Program of the US Office of Naval Research Global at both Harvard University and Stanford University.
In collaboration with fellow researchers, CP has developed multiple CI-based innovative software systems that have garnered international recognition. Among the awards his work has received include Gold Medal at the Pittsburgh Invention and New Product Exposition (USA), Gold Medal and Special Award at the British Innovation Show (UK), Gold Medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions (Switzerland), and Silver Prize at the Open Source Software World Challenge (South Korea).
