BIO

Dr Galvin, Senior Lecturer, in the Education Innovation Exchange team at Swinburne University, has a 28-year career spanning education and health industries. Kelly’s doctoral research focused on developing an innovative approach to problem-based learning and designing an online decision-making tool to assist independent and group clinical reasoning development for undergraduate health science students. Her current research interests include the scholarship of teaching and learning, online and blended learning design, group learning design, the role of the teacher to enhance transformative learning, curriculum quality review, student as partners in curriculum design, program-level planning for optimal student learning experience and assessment design, and professional learning for academic and professional staff. She is skilled in design-based research (DBR) and qualitative research methods including reflexive thematic analysis.
Dr Galvin’s current teaching and convenorship includes topics in perspectives on pedagogy, curriculum development, assessment design, and online learning and teaching. She has won the 2025 HDR Excellence Award,  2022 Research-Teacher-Practice Research Award, and 2020 Product Innovation Recognition Award at Torrens University Australia.
As a HDR supervisor, Dr. Galvin’s is interested in DBR and qualitative methods, the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching, advances in health sciences and online adult education, practice-based research to improve curriculum, and research design that encompasses a multidisciplinary and inclusive approach.
